Rustic Knife Course November 29th
In this course you get the opportunity to create your very own rustic finish knife made in a traditional way under the expert eye of Blacksmith Andy Smith. After the safety talk I will take you through some basic forging skills this will help with hammer control and help you understand the different steps involved in the knife making process so you can successfully forge out your knife.
You will make a rustic knife over four hours out of a piece of carbon steel, starting with the handle and finishing with the blade. I will be giving verbal descriptions along with practical demonstrations to keep you on track with your build. After the forging is finished you will have a well earned break to allow your blade to cool and normalise.
Then its time to refine your knife on the belt grinders and add the bevel ready for hardening. Once we have the blade heat treated and cleaned up, it's time to finish it with the paracord rap handle.
The course starts at 10am and runs for up to four hours.
